The Nations League takes place every two years, when no other major tournament is being played. The first Nation’s League was in 2018, the second in 2020 and the third in 2022; and so on. However, the semi-finals and finals can be played in the following year (e.g. 2019, 2021, 2023).

The Nation’s League hovers between a tournament and league. There are four divisions, each with three or four groups of four teams. Only the countries in the highest division (division A) claim the final victory. The nations in the other divisions play for promotion (or relegation).
